Privacy policy
Tsedal is made by Abyssinia Labs LLC (“we”). This policy says what we collect when you use the Tsedal app, the parish dashboard or a parish’s giving page, why, who sees it, and what you can ask of us. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t show ads.
What we collect
- Your account: your name and the email address or phone number you sign in with. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from them.
- Your parish: which parishes you join, and, if you work for a parish, your role on its team.
- Your gifts: the amount, the fund, the date, whether it’s monthly, whether you gave anonymously, any dedication you add, and the fees. Your card or bank details are collected and kept by Stripe, not by us; we see only the kind of card or bank, the last four digits and the expiry date.
- Your choices: your language and which notifications you want, and a device token so we can send them.
- For parishes: the parish’s name, address, legal name and EIN, the documents it uploads for verification, its contact person’s details, and what it posts.
- Security records: the network address and browser of requests to Tsedal, to keep it secure and stop abuse, such as attempts to test stolen cards on a giving page.
Why we use it
- To run Tsedal: to sign you in, show you your parish’s news and calendar, and send the notifications you asked for.
- To process your gifts through Stripe, and to send your receipts and year-end statements.
- To show your parish its gifts, so its treasurer and council can keep its accounts.
- To check that a parish is genuine before it can accept gifts.
- To prevent fraud, keep Tsedal secure, answer your questions, and meet our legal obligations.
Who sees it
- Your parish. Its admins, treasurer and council see your name and your gifts to that parish. If you give anonymously, they see “Anonymous” instead of your name. Other parishes never see your information.
- Stripe processes payments and keeps payment details under its own privacy policy.
- The services Tsedal runs on, only to provide it: Cloudflare (hosting, file storage and bot protection), Convex (our database), Apple and Google (sign-in and notifications), Expo (sending notifications) and our email provider (receipts and messages). They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
- The law. We disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety or prevent fraud.
How long we keep it
We keep your account while it is open. Records of gifts are kept after an account closes for as long as tax and accounting rules require them to be kept, so that receipts and the parish’s books stay correct. Security records are kept for a short time and then deleted.
Your choices
- You can change your language and notifications in the app at any time.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account by writing to support@tsedal.org from the address you signed in with. We will do it within 30 days, keeping only the gift records the law requires us to keep.
- Depending on the state you live in, you may have further rights over your information; write to us and we will honor them.
Children
Tsedal is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child under 13 has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security and where it’s kept
Tsedal is for parishes in the United States, and your information is kept in the United States. It is encrypted in transit, and each parish’s information is kept apart and shown only to the people its roles allow.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top says when it last changed, and we will tell you in the app or by email before a change that matters to you takes effect.
